Applied Clinical Psychology

Clinical psychology is a diverse and compelling field.

Clinical psychologists research, assess, and treat mental illness.

They work with people to help them adjust to challenges and heal after losses.

They can develop and use empirically validated treatments to alleviate suffering and to improve functioning.

They also can assess human abilities and personality traits.

This course introduces students to clinical psychology, including topics such as the history of treatment and the important role of science in clinical psychology.

The course also explores some of the most common mental illnesses.

We consider challenges and controversies in the field.

In addition, we learn about preparing for graduate school in clinical psychology or related fields.
