Twenty-First Century Angst

Rates of anxiety and depression have been increasing in the United States and globally, with significant rises seen among young adults and adolescents even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

What factors are driving this increase? This course explores the unique forms of anxiety and psychological distress that have emerged or intensified in the twenty-first century.

We examine the social, technological, environmental, and economic drivers of contemporary angst, break down the psychological and physiological components, and develop strategies for resilience in an age of constant change.

Through case studies, discussion, and experiential activities, participants leave with deeper insight into modern anxiety and with actionable tools for anxiety reduction.
