Create and Edit Great Videos: From Script to Final Cut

Creating a video is a powerful artistic expression of your passion—who doesn’t want their videos to shine and captivate an audience? Geared toward novices, this course will guide you through the essentials of planning your video, including crafting a script, storyboarding, and developing an execution plan.

We’ll dive into shooting techniques, focusing on lighting, sound, and shot composition.

Together, we’ll analyze commercials and films to learn film language from the experts and apply strategies that elevate your projects.

Editing best practices will be covered, emphasizing not only technique but also how to apply them for maximum effect.

We’ll explore real-world filmmaking topics, such as the art of transitions in movies and documentaries.

The course will feature DaVinci Resolve, a free nonlinear editor widely used in the industry.

By the end of the course, you’ll have created and published your own short video online.

Students can use any camera that shoots video (e.g., smartphone, digital camera, tablet, or video camera).

Students must have a Windows or Mac computer for coursework.
