Homer’s Iliad

Reading of selections of Homer's Iliad , with an introduction to Homeric language and meter and the history of the poem.

The course also includes a survey of Homeric linguistics, including the compositional background of the poems, the effect of meter and composition on Homeric language, and the dialect makeup of Homeric language.
