History of the Jewish People

This course provides a survey of the main features of the Jewish historical and cultural landscape from ancient times to the present.

Students examine the origins, development, and cultural significance of Judaism, as well as the experiences of Jewish communities worldwide.

Sources are drawn from the rich scholarly literature on Jewish history, theology, philosophy, mysticism, and social thought.

Through the study of key historical events, religious texts, cultural practices, and socio-political movements, students gain a deeper understanding of the diverse and rich tapestry of Jewish history.
