ENVR E-119G

Sustainable Cities

This course explores sustainability as a set of relationships among diverse urban communities, between people and the environment, and across present and future generations.

Organized around four core questions—why sustainable cities matter, how environmental impacts shape cities, who is most vulnerable to these impacts, and how cities can become more sustainable—the course examines how the same environmental challenges can affect communities in profoundly different ways.

Students develop skills in critically evaluating competing ideas, supporting arguments with evidence, and engaging thoughtfully with diverse perspectives on urban sustainability.
