Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Learn what it takes to move from idea to implementation when starting an enterprise.

This course examines the different mentalities and emotional perspectives necessary to become a successful entrepreneur, or "intra"preneur, within the existing framework of a company.

Current and potential business owners will review and discuss such questions as “Do I have what it takes?,” “Can I handle the pressure?,” “What are the risks?,” and “How can I make myself a more fully functioning entrepreneur?” Review all sections of a successful business plan, and how they affect decision making.

Guest speakers share experiences relevant to new business formation.

Course Purpose and Prerequisites The overall purpose is for you to gain a thorough understanding of the role of an entrepreneur – using skills and information from the course to quickly assess, describe, and evaluate starting a new business.

Course Goal This course will provide you with an understanding of the skills needed to run a small business.

You will analyze case studies and have the opportunity to integrate what you have learned in creating a business plan for a new venture.

Learning Objectives By the end of this course, you will be able to: Define and describe Entrepreneurship and Intraprenuership Create a Business Plan, Executive Summary and “Investor Pitch Deck” Describe an effective Problem or Opportunity Statement Describe an effective product or service Value Proposition Understand the importance and different types of a Business Model Define the elements and purpose of a Go-To-Market plan Describe the process and purpose of Competitive Analysis Interpret the elements of Financial Statements, Key Metrics and their purposes Summarize the different operations required to run a small business Identify the different ways to fund a new business
