Clinical Psychology

Clinical psychology is a diverse and compelling field that combines science and practice.

Clinical psychologists research, assess, and treat mental illness.

They can develop and use empirically validated treatments to alleviate suffering and to improve functioning.

They also can assess human abilities and personality traits.

This course provides a broad overview of the field and introduces students to topics such as the history of clinical psychology, professional activities of clinical psychologists, diagnosis and treatment, the role of science in clinical psychology, and current issues and ethics.

The course also explores some of the most common mental illnesses.
