Middle School: Beyond Stone Soup: Planetary Cuisine, Climate, and Cultivation

Culinary geology: Explore food's journey from Earth to plate deliciously.

One of the major divisions between humanity and most other organisms is the ability to prepare and cook food so as to extract more nutrition per unit mass.

The co-evolution of the plants and animals humans use for food might possibly comprise one of our greatest geologic legacies.

In this course we explore the parallels between food and geology, through lessons, horticulture, and preparing a new age – appropriate recipe each day.

We emphasize food safety and proper nutrition, while encouraging the exploration of new flavors and new cultures, that is as informative as it is delicious.

Please Note: Meal will include wheat gluten, nuts, soy, dairy, meat, fish, and various spices.

Class is designed to accommodate a variety of dietary needs, but we cannot eliminate the presence of some food allergens in the classroom.
