R & L: Research, Instruction, and Intervention

Candidates will review research pertaining to language & literacy instruction and intervention, the use of print, media, & digital resources, learn the normal progression of complexity for components of literacy instruction and how to instruct for each component, learn the implications of delays or differences in students’ literacy development, assess for intervention and modify curriculum to address student needs.

Candidates will plan a lesson of formal literacy instruction that is sequential, linguistically logical, systematic, explicit, differentiated, and based upon formal and informal assessments of individual students’ progress.
