Echoes in Paint: The Life, Legacy, and Vision of Artist Jack Boul
In this course, we discover the extraordinary artistry of Jack Boul—painter, printmaker, and beloved American University professor—whose work appears in the National Gallery of Art, the Phillips Collection, the Smithsonian, and private collections nationwide.
His subject matter includes land spaces, seascapes, and finding beauty in the ordinary routines of life.
Specifically, Boul's paintings feature quotidien scenes—weeding in a garden, sitting on a park bench, combing your hair—elevating the everyday into art.
Known for his emotional depth, lyrical brushwork, and powerful Holocaust series housed in the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, Boul’s art invites viewers into intimate, human moments rendered with profound simplicity.
This lecture is presented by his son, David Boul.
