Introduction to Western Classical Music
This course introduces a wide range of works that comprise the tradition we loosely call classical music.
Our primary focus is the cultivation of essential active-listening skills through deep engagement with a carefully curated selection of masterpieces representing pivotal moments in music history.
By exploring the cultural, historical, and aesthetic contexts of these works, we look beyond the notes to discover the deeper meanings, social impacts, and emotional resonance of the music.
