Single Subject Methods for Teaching Social Science
This course is designed for credentialed teachers who are looking to add a certification in social studies to their credential.
The primary goal of this course is for candidates to learn specific teaching strategies that are effective in supporting them to teach the state-adopted academic content standards for students in history/social science (grades 7-12).
The course is centered on developing an understanding of historical thinking and learning new methods to help secondary students think, read and write like historians.
Participants in the course have an opportunity to design lessons and learning experiences that they can use to teach social studies, while also continuing to build their own understanding of what it means to learn social studies.
