Practicum in College Counseling

The Practicum course is the capstone of the UCLA College Counseling Certificate Program, reviewing key concepts and principles from previous classes.

Students must be enrolled and participate in the online portion of the course, during which practicum experiences are shared with colleagues and reviewed by the instructor.

Students review and comment on relevant articles of interest, learn about college counseling research and strategies, and share their insights through a Weekly Discussion topic and their experiences through a Weekly Journal.

They are also required to interact regularly with colleagues and the instructor.

At the end of the Practicum, students must submit a data-based “Action Plan” and a brief presentation (recorded or live via Zoom) based on a college counseling issue at their school site.
