Developmental Biology

This course teaches the cellular and molecular basis of animal embryology and describes the events of development common to many multicellular organisms.

Lectures emphasize the genetic, cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in development.

Topics include changes in gene expression and cell-to-cell interactions and how these lead to particular developmental outcomes.

Students also learn how alterations in normal patterns of gene expression and cell-cell interaction lead to developmental defects and disease.
