MATH S-8
College Algebra
The course begins with a review of geometry and then proceeds with a treatment of algebra.
We cover algebraic expressions and equations, both linear and quadratic, and their manipulation and use in problem solving.
From there, we look at word problems; polynomial, fractional and simultaneous equations; inequalities; absolute value; and graphing and lines.
The main goal of this course is to lay a solid foundation for students in algebra and to instill a sense of confidence in analytical courses in general.
The course reviews all the algebraic topics a student needs to successfully handle the math seen in courses such as general chemistry, physics, principles of economics, and genetics.
It also serves as a refresher for most of the math covered on the SAT, ACT, GRE and GMAT exams.
