Sustainability and Impact Investments

This course is an exploration of the intersection between finance and sustainability, designed for students with a foundational understanding of sustainable finance.

It focuses on how financial markets integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria to drive both financial performance and measurable positive social and environmental outcomes.

The course delves into the evolution of sustainable finance, moving beyond traditional ESG considerations to impact investing, where returns are pursued alongside tangible impacts.

Throughout the course, key topics such as the role of ESG criteria in influencing financial performance, defining and assessing impact investments, and understanding multi-stakeholder perspectives in sustainability are covered.

Additionally, students explore green bonds, sustainable financial instruments, sustainable asset management, and how these are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The course also addresses regulatory and voluntary frameworks, as well as global trends in sustainable and impact investments.

This course adopts a workshop-based format.

Students actively apply their knowledge throughout the term by developing a comprehensive sustainable investment strategy.

This practical approach allows for a deeper understanding of how to create investment strategies that not only deliver financial returns but also contribute to positive social and environmental change.
