ENVR S-147

International Environmental Governance, Policy, and Social Justice

This course examines both the policy decisions and social justice issues that drive human actions and responses to environmental challenges.

We begin by exploring three foundational topics: environmental governance, the global commons, and natural resource valuation.

Core concepts from these sessions will continue to arise as we progress into classes focused on particular sectors of environmental policy, such as climate change, sustainable development, energy, and conservation.

Upon completion of the course, students are prepared to engage with issues from a wide range of environmental policy areas that touch upon a number of social justice dilemmas.

In addition, they further develop the analytic, rhetorical, written, and negotiation skills that are essential to environmental policy and advocacy careers.
