The Political Power of Roman Women

We often imagine that women in the Roman world were excluded from political power.

However, the reality was very different.

In this course, we explore how literature, public commemorations, and monuments encouraged all Romans to connect with powerful female figures.

We examine how these examples taught Romans that their society not only tolerated female political activity, but that its very survival sometimes depended on it.

This course will be recorded.

Students will have access to videos for 30 days.
